On the evening of August 27, 2025, CISS welcomed the first parents meeting of the 2025-2026 academic year. Starting at 5 p.m., Madam Yuna Duan, Executive Director of CISS, and Mr. Gordon, the Principal, along with the entire teaching team, warmly greeted the arrival of each student and parent with great enthusiasm, marking the beginning of this grand event dedicated to home-school collaboration.

Principals Speech: Anchoring the Direction of Growth, Clarifying Co-education Guidelines

At 5:30 p.m., Principal Mr. Gordon delivered a keynote speech in the school auditorium. He systematically elaborated on CISSs educational philosophy and management policies for the new academic year across six dimensions: school uniform policy, home-school communication, student council, parent committee, AI usage, and electronic device management, laying a solid foundation for home-school cooperation:

1. School Uniform Policy

School uniforms are a concrete expression of campus culture. In the new academic year, the requirement for "formal attire on Fridays" will continue to be implemented. Moreover, through a tripartite collaboration mechanism involving "parents + teachers + students," the consensus that "attire reflects attitude" will be conveyed, helping students develop self-discipline.

2. Home-School Communication

Communication is the bridge for home-school collaboration. The school has established "email as the core communication channel," supplemented by tools like WeChat to enhance convenience. At the same time, the process is standardized: teachers focus on teaching, with teaching secretaries handling emergencies, and parents prioritizing Outlook emails for non-urgent mattersensuring educational focus while guaranteeing accurate information delivery.

3. Student Council

The CISS Student Council provides a platform for students to practice leadership. MYP/DP offers diverse positions, and PYP fifth graders can also participate in elections. Principal Gordon encourages parents to support their childrens participation in "election activities" to build confidence, collaboration, and a sense of responsibility.

4. Parent Committee

The newly launched "Parent Ambassadors Network (PAN)" this academic year aims to build a closer home-school community. Parents can act as "representatives" to convey needs, contribute to campus culture, and jointly create a high-quality educational ecosystem for students.

5. Rational Use of AI

In response to the AI wave, CISS upholds the principle of "rational use of AI": students need to learn the proper application of AI tools rather than seeking shortcuts. The school will soon release the "AI Usage Guidelines," clarifying the boundaries between "assisting thinking" (e.g., translation or organizing arguments) and "academic misconduct" (e.g., directly submitting AI-generated papers).

6. Electronic Device Management

CISS will implement the "Digital Citizenship Agreement" to regulate the use of electronic devices. Teachers will dynamically supervise usage in the classroom and phase in the "tablet withdrawal plan" for fifth and fourth graders, guiding students to treat electronic products rationally and develop healthy learning habits.

Classroom Communication: Delving into Details, Cultivating Growth

After the speech, parents followed their children's homeroom teachers into the classrooms for "class-specific communication." Homeroom teachers shared their teaching philosophies (such as inquiry-based learning and differentiated instruction) and classroom practices (project-based assignments and interactive models), and also discussed students' performance at school, growth bottlenecks, and personalized support plans in depth. Parents actively asked questions, ranging from "course expansion resources" to "psychological counseling methods," deepening their understanding of their children's growth through two-way communication.

Consensus on Co-education: Trust as the Foundation, Commitment to Growth

This parents' meeting was not only a "two-way exchange of information" but also reached a consensus on "professional guidance + joint efforts" in co-education. It also demonstrated parents' recognition of CISS's "holistic development" philosophy. When the professionalism of educators resonates with parents' trust, the growth path of every CISS student will undoubtedly be more solid and broad.

In the future, CISS will continue to work hand in hand with parents to lay a solid foundation for growth through open communication channels, professional educational programs, and forward-thinking management concepts. From academic depth to character building, from technological empowerment to humanistic nourishment, every expectation will be fulfilled in the educational practice of "respecting differences and stimulating potential". CISS looks forward to walking side by side with parents to write more wonderful chapters about growth!
